1. What ethical / legal issues need to be considered when implementing this database? Explain

When implementing my database the legal issues, I have to consider copyright protection as databases contain information about people’s lives, but because this is a music store database, it would protection the artists and their music from copyright, as without copyright protection people could take the music for free, which is illegal. Another thing is, that if there is no copyright protection on the database not only will the artist’s work be copied but the unique database made could also be copied and the information that was collected is easy free to copy all facts. Another issue would be the importance of not leaking information such as selling albums before they are released, which means they are legally misused, this issue also crosses over with ethical issues as is part of a persons morals to control this. Thus it is needed to be considered when implementing a music database.
Additionally another ethical issue concerning the implementing of a music store database is battling music piracy, going after software that may come into the music database and downloading illegal music files.

2. Discuss what advantages such a system has over conventional methods of organizing and previewing music?

The advantages of having such a modern music search system is, firstly the most obvious one; speed. It is a lot fast for a customer to search for his/or her music with a computer system with so many search buttons. If the customer only new the name of the artist instead of going through all the artist’s songs like a conventional method, the customer can type the artist name and very quickly get results.
Another benefit from the speed is the serving customers, using a music database, the sales person is able to locate the song instead of searching the whole isle or is able to show the customer faster, thus then being able to serve more customers with less staff.
Another advantage would be; more appeal. Using a music database to preview music is more appealing than using a conventional method ,such as searching by rake, because it is easier from a customer to search from their music. It is more appealing as it motivates them to search because it is easy to search and is easy to listen to, as all you need to do is click on the track. In comparison to conventional methods which would be to put a CD into a music player then listen to then search for the track on the CD. The music database is less fussy with dealing with listening to music.

lunch lesson,

i continued to add touch ups to my database.
first of all i added a back button which will take you back to the menu. The back button is placed on the open forms.

i also added more music related images to my database menu page. the buttons were enlarged. I also made a last check were i viewed my database and prentended i was a customer searching for music. it worked!!!! now i just have to put it on w drive and finish the questions

on following lesson,
i made my forms i made 6 because i had 5 querys and i need to make one main menu. this was all done with the help of many. i my forms the first half of the lesson and fited them to a smaller size.

Then i tested them with my perameter querys and the work very well. But i did have to fix them a little, i chose to make the background white.

For the main menu i got a image that says music and streched it as my background the i made the buttons, this at firsted didnt work as i hadnt put my thingon wizard control, i think its called. After that i made 5 buttons for album, artist, song, year release and genre and place them at the side on the background image with a white backgorund. To make the buttons i made them open up forms.

on the following lesson,
i finished my querys, album name, artist name, genre, year realeased, song name.
I had no problem with them, they were all very sucessful and worked very well.

i was also added another field onto my table and that was genre.

on the follering lesson,
i inserted the music, i dont know how to cut the songs shorter and they arnt that bit anyway so i left them. I ddnt have mush trouble with inserting the music on to the treck feild as i was quiet simple, first right click the press insert then you browres for the music.
A liitle problem i did remember is at first the music wouldnt play, (before i inserted the music i made sure it was the right file type). a window came up and after i updated something the music played.

On the 3rd lesson, i was told that my file could be too large thanks to the album images. inorder to reduce them i had to make them small, also jpeg images were large so lucky i changed them into bitmap.

To make the images smaller again i had to delete them off my table and then go on to paint and resize them.i made them all about a half there orginal size. Then i re-inserted them into the album art field and this reduced the size of my folder. A minor problem i also encountred was to save what i had done, which i did twice, the scond time i rushed through it so my ablum images dont match the album name and stuff.

the second lesson i work on my database,
i encounted a problem with my album art images they wouldnt work when i wanted to view them. This was because the were jpeg images and jpeg images wouldnt work on acess. kate helped me fixed this, i had to delete them from my database. Then place them on paint where i had to save them as 24-bit bitmap images, this was fustrating. After saving all the images as bitmap images i had to insert them back into the table. i also started maying my querys as well and my first one was album name, i had assistance from sheenal. i have put in my music but kate said it would still work if i did my queries first, which it did work.

i have been very busy doing my assignment therefore unable to blog.

since my last blog i have learnt how to make a button and also a perameter query.

the first chanllege i had with my database was inserting the images, when i was making my table i made the album art field text, but i was supposed to be choose object, so when i tryed to insert my album images, it wouldn't work.
i have to edit my table and change my album art fielf into object and also my track field as i as made that one text and inorder to have music on it the trackes had to be objects.

that lesson i also had trouble with saving album images, i had to save them into a folder so that my database would work on other computers, i have labelled the folder database project and inside has all my images and music.
